Seek Ye First?

As i sit here staring at this blank screen thinking of something important and groundbreaking to say to you guys, I picked up this book I am reading called “Quiet Strength” by Tony Dungy. I am only halfway through it and would highly recommend it to anyone regardless of their football knowledge. The book takes you through the life of Super Bowl champion coach Tony Dungy.

For those that don’t know, Tony Dungy is probably one of the most faithful people in the world. He always seeks Gods will first in every situation. Without revealing too much of the book, Tony is faced with a life changing situation numerous times throughout the book. While I would more than likely ask my parents or friends for guidance, Tony holds to Matthew 6:33. Matthew 6:33-But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. He doesn’t just do this once in the book, nor does he only seek the kingdom of God because he thinks he will get what he’s praying about. Tony does it time after time, getting what he prayed about or not.

I may be different from most of you, (maybe not)but this is how i thought it was suppose to go down. When I prayed to God when I was little, I thought that if God didn’t give me what I prayed about He didn’t answer my prayer. Yes, this might sound idiotic but I thought if we just simply asked God for something He was liable by prayer to give it to me. This is just not the case. God answers EVERY prayer, the answer might not always be the one we want, but it is answered. It might even take forever to be answered but it will be answered. This might be discouraging to some and even cause some to take situations into their own hands, but Tony never sees it this way. This is evident countless times when Tony always turns to God and thanks him despite the outcome. Perfect example, wether his team wins their game or not, he always has a team prayer and thanks God for everything that he has done.

This is more than encouraging to me. It gives me the courage to do the same when faced with a situation to just pray about it, and leave it in Gods hands. If the situation turns out unfavorable, I still give thanks to God for everything. Again i highly recomend this book for anyone regardless of their football knowledge. Football was just a way for him to share his testimony.

Until next time,
Parker

  1. love it, parker :) definitely what i needed to hear

  2. Amen, bro. That is exactly how I feel as well. That’s how everyone needs to be, instead of when something happens that is not the way they wanted it to go, saying that God never answered their prayer and blaming the horrible situation on Him. We need to thank God for everything we get or even don’t get. He has a reason for it in the end, or maybe not even in the end, maybe you will see the reason in the near future. So, again, I say Amen my brother.

Keep your chin up, and your eyes and heart towards Our Creator.
    Love you, bro.

(P.S. See, I do read your blogs, man. Lol.)
